Kokomo Winery Dinner at Biga

  • Biga 4329 South Peoria Avenue Tulsa, OK, 74105 United States (map)

Biga is excited to have the Owner-Winemaker Erik Miller from Kokomo Winery visiting Tulsa to talk about his wonderful wines. Ashley Flores from Handcrafted will also be here to show Erik around Tulsa. We will be serving two whites, a Sauvignon Blanc and the delicious Chardonnay. The third wine is a red blend in the style of Chateauneuf du Pape.

Kokomo Winery is perched on the East side of Dry Creek Valley amidst the 120 acres of prime benchland vineyards of Timber Crest Farms. Owner and Winemaker Erik Miller started the winery in 2004 naming it after his hometown of Kokomo, IN, and decided on a Coastal Cypress Tree as a logo to signify his move out west. Kokomo currently produces over a dozen different varietals and several single vineyard designates which are farmed by his partner in the winery, grower Randy Peters. Kokomo Winery focuses their terroir-driven wines on the three distinctive appellations of Sonoma County - Russian River, Dry Creek and Alexander Valleys. This dynamic partnership of a grower and a winemaker ensures the winery’s ongoing commitment to quality and consistency for future vintages. Kokomo Winery has been making its mark in Sonoma County, unfailingly earning 90+ ratings, Best of Class, and Gold Medals across all of their varietals since the beginning.

1st Course

Shrimp and White Beans

Wine-Kokomo Sauvignon Blanc, Dry Creek Valley

“Grassy fresh and bubbling in acidity, this light-bodied, lightly ripe white is dazzling in lime and grapefruit, with a tease of peach skin. It's an enjoyable varietal wine that shows restraint and grace.”

Pasta Course

Pesto Lasagna

Wine-Kokomo Chardonnay, Russian River

“Reminiscent of a classic white Burgundy but with a California twist, this Chardonnay displays vibrant minerality accompanied by the mouth-watering natural acidity typically found in Peters Vineyard. Stirring the lees (Sur Lie) was performed to this lot consistently once per week through malolactic fermentation. We feel like this gives the wine body, texture and depth while maintaining its graceful acidity and restraint. This Chardonnay is elegant enough to pair with delicate foods and delicious enough to drink by itself after a long day.”

Entrée

Grilled Beef Filet

Gorgonzola Butter

Wine- Kokomo Cuvee Red Blend, North Coast

28% Grenache, 26% Petite Sirah, 25% Zinfandel, 14% Mourvèdre, 7% Carignan

“This Cuvée is a focused blend that is inspired by the wines of Châteauneuf-du-Pape but with a Dry Creek twist. The dark and lush cherry notes on the nose and palate are characteristic of Dry Creek Valley Grenache. The Mourvèdre contributes hints of blueberry pie while the Zinfandel and field blend varieties round out the palette with some earth and spice. It has a medium body and fully integrated tannins which contribute to a plush and polished mouthfeel and a lingering silky finish.”

Dessert

Frozen Lemon Zabaglione
